Product Properties
(1) Oleic acid is a colorless oily liquid with the smell of animal oil or vegetable oil. Its color gradually darkens if left in the air for a long time.
(2) It’s freely soluble in organic solvents such as ethyl alcoho, diethyl ether and chloroform and is insoluble in water.
(3) It is very easily oxidized, polymerized or decomposed under intense heat.

Application
(1) Its lead salt, manganese salt and cobalt salt are paint dryers; its copper salt is a preservative; its aluminium salt can be used as textile waterproofing agent and thickener for certain lubricating oil; Oleic acid, after epoxidation, can be used to produce epoxy oleate (plasticizer).
(2) The wool textile industry uses it to produce antistats and lubricating and softening agents.
(3) The 75% alcoholic solution of oleic acid can be used as rust remover.
